Money

My dear Bablu,

Here's a happy New Year gift for you. It is a cheque for Rs. 250.00. Begin the New Year with thrift. Don't spend it extravagantly. The saying that "money saved is money earned", is of immense practical importance in human life. He who plays ducks and drakes with money is sure to come to grief very soon. It does not matter how much you can spend. What really matters is how little you can live. The more you earn and the less you spend, the happier you will be in life. Remember that there are ups and downs in life. So you must cultivate the habit of the economy and lay by something for the rainy day.

So let me see how far you follow my advice and what you do with this New year gift. After you have spent the money, send me a detailed account of your expenditure. With lots of love.

Your affectionate brother,

Ratan
