rescued a man from fire

A letter to your father describing how you rescued a man from fire.

My dear Father,

I had a very fearful experience last night. At about 10 p.m. a terrible fire broke out at a little distance from our house. Hearing a cry of alarm, I came out of my study and found some young men running with buckets of water. I followed them and soon found columns of smoke rising from a house that had caught fire. I front of the house, two girls were running about crying, "Help us! help us!" I soon came to know from them that their old father could not come out of the house. In spite of the best efforts of the people the fire could not be extinguished, rather it began to spread. The girls kept on crying. Oh, the horror of it! I could no longer stand idle. I at once rushed into their house to rescue (t) the old man. There was dense smoke all around. I could see nothing in the dark. I shouted as loudly as I could, but there was no response.

At last, in the light of the flame, I found the old man lying unconscious on the floor of a room. I dragged him out of the room, and then rushed out of the burning house with the feeble old man on my shoulder. There were shouts of applause from all sides.

The old man was taken to hospital and after one hour's struggle, the fire was extinguished.

I shall never forget the experience of this day in my life. We are all well here.

With my best regards to you and mother dear,

Your loving son,

Tapan
