I am sorry to learn that my son, Binode Behari Bose belonging to Class VIII of your school, has failed in the last Annual Examination and that he has not been consequently thought fit to be promoted to the next higher class. I learn, however, that he has secured satisfactory marks in some of the subjects; and considering the disadvantages under which he had to labour last year, I think his ill success was due more to unavoidable circumstances than to any negligence on his part.
I would, therefore, request you to give him a chance by promoting him, as he undertakes to make up his deficiencies by hard labour.

আমার পুত্র শ্রীমান বিনােদবিহারী বসু আপনার স্কুলের ৮ম শ্রেণির ছাত্র। সে গত বাৎসরিক পরীক্ষায় অকৃতকার্য হয়েছে বলে তাকে প্রােমােশন দেওয়া হয় নি শুনে দুঃখিত হলাম। আমি জানলাম যে সে কয়েক বিষয়ে সন্তোষজনক নম্বর পেয়েছে। আমার মনে হয় গত বৎসর তাকে নানান অসুবিধার মধ্যে পড়াশুনা করতে হয়েছিল বলে সে এইরকম অকৃতকার্য হয়েছে। তার নিজের শৈথিল্যবশত এটা হয় নি।
অতএব প্রার্থনা তাকে প্রােমােশন দিয়ে একটি সুযােগ প্রদান করা হােক। যে সকল বিষয় সম্যকরূপে সে অবগত নয়, তা কঠোর পরিশ্রম দ্বারা পরিপূরণ করে নেবে।
