Introduction: 

Television is one of the wonders of modern science. It is a scientific device to send pictures to distance places. Man's desire both to see and hear is satisfied by television.

Invention of Television:

 The idea of television first came into the mind of a German Scientist Paul Nephew. It was Mr Baird who invented television as for back as is 1930. But its progress was halted by the last great world war of 1939. When the war came to an end in 1945, it spread and became very much popular all over the world.

Importance:

 Television first is an important thing. It is an improvement over the Radio. On the screen of the television set, we can enjoy music and see musicians in our eyes. We can see how he performs it. Television is the most up-to-date means of communicating ideas and thoughts. We can see the cricket match and football match without going over to the crowded stadium.

Recreation: 

A television serves the purpose of our recreation. After days' work, we sit before a television set and enjoy songs, dances, plays and other things.

Educative value:

 Television has some educative value too. It is one of the most powerful mass media, like the radio. Television has conquered the distance. It has brought the nations of the world closer as neighbours.

Disadvantages:

 It has some disadvantages too. Often young boys and girls become too much addicted to television. They forget everything and give their whole attention to it. 

Conclusion:

In a country like Bangladesh television should be used as a medium of instruction. But it is very costly and so the poor can not afford to buy it.
