Sir, In response to your advertisement in the issue of the Statesman of July 14th last, inviting applications for the post of junior clerk, I beg to offer myself as a candidate for the situation.

As regards my educational qualification, I beg to state that I passed the H. S. Examination in 1997. I am a young man of twenty-two years of age. I possess a sound physique, active habits and a wide capacity for hard work. I have an average speed of 50 words per minute in typewriting.

I was employed for eight months as a junior clerk against leave vacancy in a private firm in Calcutta, and have thus gained some experience in office work, particularly figure work and keeping records. I would assure you that if you are pleased to select me for the post applied for, I shall spare no pains to discharge my duties to your complete satisfaction.
