SWAMI VIVEKANANDA

Swami Vivekananda (স্বামী বিবেকানন্দ) was one of the greatest humanists of India, nay, the world. He was born on January 12 in 1863. His parents were Biswanath Dutta and Bhubaneswari Devi. His original name was Narendranath Dutta. He was a brilliant student. He passed Matriculation Examination in 1879 from Metropolitan Institution. Later he studied at Scottish Church College and passed the FA examination in 1881 and the BA examination in 1884 from there. In 1882, he met Sri Ramakrishna and his outlook (8) about life was changed. He attended the Parliament of Religions at Chicago in 1893. He waged a crusade against the long-prevailing caste system. He founded the Ramakrishna Mission in 1897 to preach true religion and serve the suffering humanity. Belur Math, the headquarters of that Ramakrishna Mission, was set up in 1898. This great personality passed away on July 4, 1902. But we feel the resonance of his sterling voice through his guiding words.
