Belling the Cat
Once some mice lived together in a deserted house. The mice had a lovely time. They had the whole house to themselves. One day, a large cat came to stay in the same house. The cat had smelt the mice. All-day it sat near the hole of the mice. The mice in fear dared not come out. After some days, they could bear it no longer. They held a meeting. One young mouse suggested, 'Let us hang a bell around the cat's neck. Then when she walks, the bell will ring and we can run away. A wise old mouse asked, "But who will bell the cat?" The mice fell silent.
